ONTARIO, CANADA, May 11, 2026 — Volunteer Members of OnePoint Association of REALTORS® Government and External Relations Committee are participating in the Canadian Real Estate Association Spring PAC at Home initiative, meeting with local Members of Parliament to discuss housing affordability and supply challenges impacting communities across the region.
The meetings provided an important opportunity for REALTORS® to share local market insights and advocate for practical housing policies that support stronger, more attainable communities.
A key focus of the discussions was the growing challenge many Canadians face when trying to achieve homeownership, particularly younger Canadians and first-time buyers who continue to encounter increasing barriers to entering the housing market. Members emphasized the importance of policies that encourage housing diversity and improve supply across all community types.
Conversations also highlighted the need for more “missing middle” housing options, including townhomes, duplexes, and semi-detached homes, to better meet the needs of working families, seniors, and individuals looking for attainable housing options within their communities.
In addition, OnePoint Members reinforced support for a renewed National Housing Strategy that prioritizes:
Expanding housing choice
Investing in critical infrastructure
Supporting sustainable community growth
Strengthening collaboration between federal, provincial, and municipal governments
By participating in advocacy initiatives like PAC at Home, OnePoint Members continue to ensure local housing perspectives are represented in conversations with federal decision-makers. These discussions are an important part of advancing policies that support housing supply, affordability, and long-term community development across the region.
OnePoint Association of REALTORS® remains committed to advocating for solutions that help create more housing opportunities for Canadians while supporting vibrant, sustainable communities for future generations.
